Software: Rhino
This project explored transit-oriented development opportunities surrounding a Pittsburgh Regional Transit station, with the goal of increasing residential density while supporting neighborhood growth.
My role focused on developing zoning-compliant residential massing studies for parcels surrounding the station. Using Rhino, I translated R1, R3L, and R3H zoning regulations into housing prototypes that tested different building typologies, density strategies, and parcel utilization. These iterative models evaluated buildable area while responding to height, setback, and lot coverage requirements, informing discussions around future residential development within the station area.
Zoning regulations informed a series of iterative residential massing studies that explored how different housing typologies could be accommodated across parcels surrounding the station. By testing R1, R3L, and R3H zoning requirements, each prototype evaluated buildable area, density, and spatial organization while responding to setbacks, height limits, and lot coverage constraints. These studies informed opportunities for transit-oriented residential development, alongside the proposed Pittsburgh Regional Transit station design.
